Grace & Matt Fennema

Grace is a dear friend who I have spent many and many hours contemplating the complexities of life with. We met at an interview weekend for graduate school at the University of West Georgia and that connection turned into us being roommates. Two years of living together as adult roommates means we had a lot of heated arguments about toilet paper, time in the bathroom, and driveway parking spots. But we also shared a lot of deeply profound moments, lots of tears, and even more ice cream dates. One thing we had in common is that we are both artists and that quickly became a bond for us, so you can imagine that I was thrilled when Grace asked me to photograph her big day.

I did not know much about Matt prior to this day except how happy he made Grace. Their love story is completely captivating and is chalk full of details that I will keep to myself out of respect for their privacy but trust me when I tell you it is one that will leave you in tears. It is everything a love story should be – filled with sparks and romance, but more importantly filled with purpose. When you struggle alongside someone and continue to choose them, there is no greater way to celebrate that than marriage. 

Before we get to the photos of their wedding, let me just tell you that Grace is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to artistic talent and vision. Matt wanted a galaxy themed wedding and Grace most certainly made it happen, all the way down to galaxy glitter cotton candy bombs for the toasts. Their perfect day happened at the Tallahassee Garden Club in the heart of downtown Tallahassee on a busy game day but you wouldn’t know it at this intimate little location.
